We are so blessed to know you care ... what a testimony to God's faithfulness through His people!
We were faced with a dilemma. An email from our host let us know that one of our three meetings, scheduled during our time of ministry, had a huge number of people registered. What an incredible blessing! But this particular blessing carried with it a challenge we were unsure how to handle.
The women's ministry meeting was promoted as a full day of meetings, which included a meal for every attendee. Originally, we planned for about 1,000 attendees. The number then climbed to about 2,000. The last communication we had before departure for Kenya was that the anticipated crowd rose to over 3,000.
Our funds were limited. We made an appeal to you, our friends and partners. Within the span of about ten days, you gave so selflessly that we were able to wire money to cover a very basic meal for about 3,000 people.
 When we arrived at the location, there were large tents crammed with women. Women and children were sitting on the ground in the hot sun, standing along the fence bordering the property, sitting along the side of the road, etc. It was amazing! Everywhere we looked, women were eagerly waiting the beginning of the day's meetings.
As we were teaching and ministering, groups of women gathered to prepare the meals ... it didn't appear to be nearly enough, but they continued to do what they could to make the food stretch.
Later that evening we learned that over 5,000 women had been in attendance in Chavakali. Wow! They were so eager to hear the Word of God, to learn the principles of living as women who are devoted to their husband, submissive to them, and making a peaceful home where God is honored as the Head.
And, then we heard the words we couldn't fathom ... "and no one went away hungry!"  Anyone who wanted to eat was fed, and they were fed plenty!
We praise God for the miracle of stretching the food so every one who hungered was filled, both physically and spiritually. The women's conferences were a huge success. So many were encouraged and challenged to grow through a deeper relationship with Christ. It was such a blessing to worship with the people, to see their joy even in the midst of their great poverty and difficult lives. God always stretches us when we go ... the stretching seemed more intense this time than for any other trip. But, to God be the glory!
One thing we learned was that the people in the tribal areas of Kenya don't have access to the written Word of God. Copies of Bibles are rare - they aren't cheap and most families cannot afford to purchase one. We have, therefore, embarked on a major project to provide Bibles to people in the remote tribal areas of Bukhokolo, Mayanja, and Chavalkali. Click here to learn more ...
